UK Boudoir Photography

Did you know the lighting you choose for your boudoir bride shoot can completely change the way your photos feel?

Did you know the lighting you choose for your boudoir bride shoot can completely change the way your photos feel?

If you’re thinking about doing a boudoir shoot as a wedding gift for your fiancé, don’t just think about your outfits and poses…

Think about the lighting.

Because lighting can take your images from soft and romantic… to edgy and sexy. And lots of my brides want both.

Here’s how dark & dramatic lighting works.

Dark and dramatic lighting is one of my signature looks. less light in your pictures can create a silhouette or an outline of your body which gives more suggestion or atmosphere, it’s more moody and it’s very popular here in the Studio.

Another look is the smokey look that’s where I point the bright Studio light at the Camera which creates a sun glare effect to the pictures and softens the way your skin looks in photos. Smokey lighting creates more of a nighttime atmosphere for your shots so you can imagine if you’re wearing something maybe a little bit more risqué- perhaps you’re naked or wearing a bondage outfit, the Smokey light look can be the bridge between you feeling that you might be too exposed or that the pictures look too rude because the lighting adds a really classy edge to the picture

If we haven’t met yet I’m boudoir bride Photography expert Alexandra Vince and I’ve been helping brides just like you to make a wedding gift for the last 24 years!

You don’t have to choose just one when you do a shoot with me because your bridal boudoir shoot will include 5 different lighting sets.

Follow for the next episode will be about the brighter lighting which has a more, glamorous, editorial feel.

I saw a gap in the bridal photography market and it changed my life.

I saw a gap in the bridal photography market and it changed my life.

In 2002, I pioneered bridal boudoir photography in the UK after realising something important:

For many women, having intimate portraits taken by a male photographer could feel intimidating.

I wanted to create something different.

A space where women could feel comfortable, celebrated, feminine and completely themselves.

What started around a kitchen table with my friend Sally grew into multiple studios, a team of 20, and over 23,000 women photographed.

But honestly? The numbers aren’t what matter most to me.

It’s the women.

The woman who walks into the studio nervous and leaves feeling incredible.

The bride who realises she doesn’t need to change her body to deserve beautiful photographs.

The woman who finally sees herself the way the people who love her see her.

And that’s why I still love what I do.

If you’re getting married, imagine giving your partner a gift that only you can give a beautiful collection of artistic, stylish portraits created especially for them.

Your body. Your story. Your confidence.

And something you’ll have forever.

✨ Around two months before your wedding

Bridal portraits without a face showing is a growing trend in my bridal boudoir studio.

Bridal portraits without a face showing is a growing trend in my bridal boudoir studio.

Lots of brides love the idea of creating gorgeous bridal boudoir images without their face in the photos. And that’s completely okay. Artistic Body shots of you as a loving, surprise and sexy wedding gift for your partner. To gift on the morning of the wedding with a note… meet me at the altar!

So how about you? Maybe you want to keep your images anonymous. Maybe you want the focus to be entirely on your body, or perhaps you simply love the idea of giving your partner body shots if you without your face in.

And here’s something I love: even without your face, your partner will still recognize you. Imagine that your partner is opening a gift box of prints of you, and the first shot’s a silhouette. It’s a silhouette with your body in a recline, with the veil direct across your body. The vast majority of pictures that I take here at for your eyes-only portraits are actually body shots, back shots, side shots, side boob shots, topless shots, all kind of like different lighting, different angles.

Faceless bridal boudoir is a big thing, and if you want to have bridal shots taken of you, and you don’t don’t like your face in pictures. I promise you, that’s not going to be an issue when you come see me.

If we’ve not met before, I’m bridal boudoir photography expert Alexandra Vince, and I’m going to help you create the wedding gift that only you can give, here in the studio with me. Gorgeous portraits of you, perhaps with the wedding veil draped across your body, perhaps in just your wedding shoes.

I’ll direct you into all of the shapes and poses.

I need you 2 hours 2 months in my studio near Marlow.

Message me for availability and special offers.

I’ll see you soon.

Today’s bride did something different!

Today’s bride did something different!

She added a body oil section to her bridal boudoir photoshoot.

Think water droplets, glowing skin, close-ups, backlighting.

The result? Artistic, sexy and completely personal.

Because your bridal boudoir photoshoot doesn’t have to have undies!

The images that become your wedding gift… gift-wrapped ‘for your eyes only.’

Would you try something a little different for your boudoir bridal shoot and create wedding gift that only you can give?

Two weeks after this picture was taken, I was back shooting brides.

Two weeks after this picture was taken, I was back shooting brides. Leaving my newborn son. That was tough.

Looking back I feel emotional about that.

But by the time my second child was born I had a team of female photographers to run the business so I could take time out to be with my baby.

Here’s the reason why I could do that.

I’d spotted a gap in the market for a scalable photography business – a female led portrait studio offering boudoir for brides to be. Helping them to create a wedding gift.

I knew I could run a business that delivered a sensitive, creative service that would make women feel comfortable and body confident in front of the camera.

I advertised in bridal and vogue magazines. Within a year, the business was booming.

The success and scalability of the business came down to the studio style, the confidentiality and the thoughtful, female led sensitive service.

Brides experienced my signature collection of flattering bridal poses, shot in a private studio at FYEO Portraits by a female photographer.

The poses they experienced were designed around the dynamic qualities of the feminine shape. Poses involved movement, twists, lifts, bends and stretches, to elevate and structure the body into the most flattering angles from each individual body shape. Whatever the brides shape or size.

With simple, stylish backdrops and artistic sculpted studio lighting, the brides body and the photography did the talking.

What I love most about my business is seeing the way it changes the way in which women see themselves.

Instead of brides focusing on the parts of their body they criticised, they see it with love, sometimes for the first time.

You can do the same. Come and see me, I need you for 2 hours, 2 months before your wedding to create the wedding gift, photos of you gift wrapped FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

Two weeks after this picture I was out taking pictures again.

Two weeks after this picture I was out taking pictures again.

I often get asked how I got into bridal photography as a young mum.

I was just 25 when I started my photography business, with my first baby only two weeks old. He’s now 28! I had no maternity leave and worked evenings and weekends, which was tough. Looking back, I might have made different choices because my son needed me and I definitely missed him when I was away.

But I’d spotted a gap in the market for a female-led service that created beautiful, flattering and artistic portraits for brides. I felt my sensitivity and creative approach could make women feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

I advertised in bridal magazines and Vogue, and the response was huge. Within a year, I was employing other female photographers and the business was booming.

I think the success came from creating a signature collection of flattering poses designed around the feminine shape — movement, twists, lifts, bends and stretches, with simple sets and lighting that let the body and the photography do the talking.

What I loved most was seeing women change the way they saw themselves. Instead of focusing on the parts they criticised, they could see their whole shape differently and appreciate things they hadn’t noticed before.

After five years, I opened another studio in the UK. Being one of the first to pioneer boudoir photography also brought international press attention, which helped the business grow even further.

After 15 years of running multiple FYEO studios, I went through a divorce and eventually restructured the business back to its original location.

Today, I have two grown-up children, remarried at 49, and still run FYEO Portraits every day.

And honestly, if I was starting again, I wouldn’t do anything differently.

I love my business. I love helping women feel fabulous, and I still love the romance of helping brides create their secret wedding gift.

There was a time when photographing brides in my boudoir studio was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

There was a time when photographing brides in my boudoir studio was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Not because of the job…

But because I was going through my own divorce.

Every week, I was capturing women who were about to marry the love of their lives, while I was trying to come to terms with the end of mine.

Some days, it was heartbreaking.

But I’ve learned that our hardest seasons often shape us in ways we don’t realise at the time.

Looking back, I now wonder how many of those brides had also experienced heartbreak before finding the person they were about to marry.

Because life doesn’t always follow the path we imagined.

I was lucky enough to find love again, and I remarried at 49.

That’s why bridal boudoir means so much more to me today.

It’s not just about creating beautiful photographs.

It’s about celebrating confidence, resilience, and the courage to open your heart again.

Because sometimes, the greatest love story isn’t your first…

It’s the one that comes after you’ve learned how strong you really are.
