15 years ago, I chucked my wedding dress and I really regret it.

15 years ago, I chucked my wedding dress and I really regret it.
It was beautiful. A fairy-tale gown with a full skirt and silk bodice. You can see it in this picture.
I used it for a bridal boudoir ad in 2005, and for a while it even became a studio prop for brides doing their shoots.
But during my divorce, I couldn’t bear to have it around me… so I threw it away.
Isn’t that awful?
Don’t do that. Give it away, sell it just don’t chuck it.
As part of my mini series on bridal boudoir creative options, I want to give you ideas so you can still achieve that “wedding dress” look without risking your own gown before the big day.
Most brides don’t want to bring their actual dress into the studio before the wedding, so I’ve built a collection of beautiful alternatives you can use instead.
In my studio I have white corsets, bridal petticoats, and veils to help create that bridal feel—whether you’re fully dressed, half dressed, or creating something more artistic like pulling the dress down for a dramatic back shot.
Even when you’re barely dressed, the lighting keeps everything elegant, classy, and beautifully atmospheric.
If we haven’t met, I’m Alexandra Vince, and I create bridal boudoir experiences designed to help you create the wedding gift that only you can give.
When you come into the studio, I’ll guide you into flattering poses, use professional lighting, and style your shoot with my bridal props to create stunning, intimate portraits.
I only need you for two hours, about two months before your wedding, to create a collection of images you can gift to your fiancé on the morning of your wedding with a note that says: “Meet me at the altar.”
It’s a simple, romantic idea, and brides have been loving it for over 24 years. And you will too.
If you haven’t booked yet, send me a message!

Some of my bridal boudoir shoot clients who had tattoos when they were teenagers, kind of regret those tattoos.

Some of my bridal boudoir shoot clients who had tattoos when they were teenagers, kind of regret those tattoos. And sometimes I have to airbrush them out or hide them with the styling or in the shadowing or in the lighting or something.
And then there’s the brides who’ve had tattoos a little bit later in life, where the tattoos have got more meaning, more depth to them, and they’re positioned in a place that the bride’s really proud of, really comfortable with.
And then there are those brides who really relish in the artistry of having a full sleeve, or a full leg, or a full body of tattoos, and see them as being a much bigger part of who they are.
And one of the things I love about a bridal boudoir photo shoot is the opportunity to turn that tattoo that you’ve got into part of an amazing piece of artwork, a wedding gift, body portraits of you.
Imagine gifting your partner on your wedding day an artistic body shot, beautifully lit, intimate, and a little bit mysterious, but they recognise you instantly from that little tattoo on your thigh.
If you’ve got colourful tattoos, I can use a really nice backlight, which makes the colours pop.
Or if you’ve got black ink or fine line tattoos, then black and white photography is incredible.
Carefully placed lights with shadows and key lines almost bring the artwork on your body to life.
If you haven’t met, I’m Boudoir Bride photography expert Alexandra Vince, and I’ve been helping brides just like you to create the wedding gifts that only you can give, beautiful, flattering, artistic body shots to show off your tattoos, to showcase your uniqueness, your individuality, your femininity, your creativity.
Come and see me.
I need you for just two hours, two months before your wedding day, to create the portraits of you that you gift to your partner on the morning of your wedding with a note saying, “Meet me at the altar.”
If you haven’t already booked, send me a message, and I’ll send you the link to my bridal package.
I’ll see you soon.

I’m a 53-year-old, ordinary British mum of two grown-up children who raised my family on the income from my bridal boudoir photography business.
I created professional photographic portrait studios with studio lighting and a clever bridal boudoir posing platform, designed to help even the shyest bride feel comfortable, confident and beautifully photographed.
When I opened my first studio in 2002, I had no savings and no guarantee it would work. Boudoir photography was still very new, but I had a vision and a strong gut instinct that I was onto something.
Brides love the fully directed, immersive experience: the privacy, the female-led professional environment, the choice of beautiful veils, and the excitement of doing something a little ‘out there’ while still feeling completely safe and protected.
And the best part? Anyone can do it.
Come and join the fun! 💕 Message me to book a call and find out more.

Just after I met my husband, I did something I’d never done before: a body oil and water photo shoot.

Just after I met my husband, I did something I’d never done before: a body oil and water photo shoot.
I did it for two reasons.
First, I wanted to surprise him with an incredibly sexy gift.
But more importantly, I’d just come out of a 20-year marriage and wasn’t feeling great about myself. At 43, I wanted to see my body as powerful and sexy. To prove to myself that I was enough. To see how I looked on film.
I had the shoot at For Your Eyes Only Portrait Studio, photographed by Gemma. I wasn’t wearing anything, just my birthday suit. I lay on the boudoir posing platform, covered in body oil and water, and was guided into different shapes and poses.
I knew the poses well because I’d trained photographers at the studio, often demonstrating them myself.
Then came the nerve-wracking bit: giving the pictures to my new man.
I wondered whether he’d find them sexy or funny. And I realised something. If he mocked me for celebrating my femininity, he simply wouldn’t be the right man for me.
Thankfully, he bloody loved them.
That was nearly 10 years ago, and now I offer this same immersive body oil experience to my bridal clients, so you can create the wedding gift that only you can give.
And you don’t need to be naturally confident, sexy or comfortable in front of a camera.
It’s designed for absolute beginners. It’s completely guided. You simply arrive at the studio and I’ll direct you through the shapes and poses, using water and body oil to create beautiful, artistic images.
You can choose colour or black and white.
Perhaps, like me, you want to create an unforgettable gift for someone you love.
Or perhaps you simply want to see yourself differently. To see your body as powerful, beautiful and enough.
I’m Alexandra Vince, boudoir bride photography expert, and I’ve been helping brides create the wedding gift that only they can give: stunning, sexy, artistic portraits, created privately at For Your Eyes Only Portrait Studio.
I need you for two hours, around two months before your wedding day.

Black and white or colour for your bridal boudoir portraits?

Black and white or colour for your bridal boudoir portraits? I have a feeling your answer might surprise me…
Back in the day, Brides wanted Boudoir photos to be black and white. But I’m definitely seeing a growing trend towards colour photos in the studio.
Day three of my BOUDOIR BRIDE miniseries is all about colour!
And in a minute, I’ll show you exactly what I mean…
But first, tell me in the comments: what do you prefer? colour or black & white
Colour shots are amazing when we want to really celebrate colour and detail — whether that’s your hair, your eyes, your skin tones or, of course, your outfit.
They’re also gorgeous for those low-lit and back-lit shots, where colour can make skin look beautifully glowing and warm.
And one of my favourite ways to use colour?
After a run of black-and-white images in your album.
You see a few beautiful monochrome shots… and then suddenly, BOOM colour!
It makes the colour image really pop, adds variety and creates that extra little wow factor in your album.

Bride to be, does the thought of being naked under really bright lighting scare the bejesus out of you?

Bride to be, does the thought of being naked under really bright lighting scare the bejesus out of you?
Well, I don’t blame you, and I felt the same until I understood about lighting and understood how actually bright lighting can be just as flattering as a candlelight or a softer light.
I’ve been photographing naked brides in my studio for the last 24 years.
They love the results, and here’s why: because when you’re photographed in bright lighting in the studio, you can be wearing a veil, a wedding veil draped across your body, or you can have just your wedding shoes on and be photographed in the most beautiful studio lighting.
There’s three types of studio lighting that I work with. They are really gorgeous.
Bounced light creates a beautiful halo around your body. Your skin stays soft and even, while the light highlights your shape without emphasizing any skin detail.
The large softbox light creates smooth, flattering, even tones. A bit like a makeup mirror, where you’ve got the light bulbs around the edge. It kind of gives you that airbrushed look.
And then there’s the clash lighting, which uses dramatic angles and shadows to sculpt your body, defining your waist, shoulders, arms, and legs, while creating beautiful body shapes.
And the real magic happens when I combine the posing and the lighting. It’s still you, just a version of you that you may have never seen before, and that is incredibly refreshing, confidence-building, and empowering.
Every shoot with me includes a variety of lighting and poses, creating a beautiful collection of artistic shots-a deeply personal wedding gift that only you can give.

Dark and dramatic lighting is one of my signature bridal boudoir looks.

Dark and dramatic lighting is one of my signature bridal boudoir looks.
Using less light can create a beautiful silhouette or outline of your body, giving your images more suggestion, atmosphere and mood. It’s a sophisticated, intimate look and one of the most popular styles here at the studio.
Another favourite is my smoky lighting look. I point a bright studio light towards the camera to create a soft, hazy glare effect. It softens the appearance of your skin and gives your images a sultry atmosphere.
It’s especially gorgeous if you’re wearing something a little more risqué or even keeping things completely bare. The smoky light can create that perfect balance: intimate and sensual, while still feeling elegant and beautifully styled. It adds a classy edge that can transform the whole mood of your images.
