Bridal boudoir expert answers the questions brides are often too shy to ask… 👀

“Is your bridal boudoir studio really private?”
Completely. It’s just you and me, and I’ll guide you through every step.

“What if I’m really shy?”
That’s okay. You don’t need to know how to pose or feel confident in front of the camera. I’ll direct you throughout your entire shoot.

“What should I wear?”
Bring your wedding lingerie, heels and jewellery — and why not bring something belonging to your partner too? A favourite shirt, tie or something sporty can make your images even more personal.

And if you’d love a beautiful bridal veil, I have cathedral-length lace-trim and ribbon-trim veils at the studio for you to borrow.

“Will my photographs be shared online?”
Only if you genuinely want me to. My business has always been built around a “for your eyes only” experience and the confidentiality I promise my clients.

“When will I see my photographs?”
Within a week. We’ll have a Zoom reveal together, where I’ll share your images and help you choose your favourites from a collection of around 30.

“How far before my wedding should I book?”
If you’re planning to gift your portraits to your partner on the morning of your wedding, I recommend having your shoot no later than around two months before your wedding day.

So what we did was… tied the shirt at her hip and put the tie around her neck, so she had a little bit of tie over each boob.

Then I directed her into these amazing shapes and poses.

And actually, Beyoncé, my partner in crime, got involved too. She’s one of my secret formulas for creating the shots I get in the studio.

When I’m taking the pictures of you, I’ll be moving Beyoncé so she hits just the right part of you to create movement- either in your hair or clothing.

Here’s how it works.

Body brush every morning before your shower it’s a great way to connect with your body: every inch: your toes, your ankles, your knees, your armpits, your neck, everything!

The very best thing about body brushing is the fact that it gives you that polished look for your skin shots in your bridal boot while photo shoot.

And even if you’ve got your wedding veil draped across your body and you’re wearing your heels, glimpses of your skin will be on show.

And if you’ve been following my body brushing advice, which is to body brush before you bathe or shower, and then to lather on loads of moisturizer and let that sink in naturally, you will have the most beautiful skin ready for your bridal boudoir photo shoot.

Brides, if you’ve ever struggled with attaching stockings to a suspender belt, here’s the easiest way to do it.

Brides, if you’ve ever struggled with attaching stockings to a suspender belt, here’s the easiest way to do it.

Stockings and suspenders are still really popular with brides here in the For Your Eyes Only Portrait Studio.

Part of my job as your bridal boudoir photographer is to help you get dressed.

I thought I’d just put together a quick-fire guide of how to attach your suspender belt to your stockings.

Each suspender belt has straps which dangle down, and at the end of the straps are a hook and a rubber shape with a circle in it.

So separate the rubber shape from the metal hook and feed the rubber shape behind the top of the stocking.

These are stockings, not hold-ups, which means that you don’t have to fight against the rubbery stocking top.

So as you can see, I’m feeding the rubber shape behind the stocking, and then I’m feeding it into the bigger hole at the top of the metal shape and feeding it down. That attaches nicely to the stocking.

You can see there that the stockings are not too tight. There’s lots of space around, so lots of stretchiness, and that is perfect.

Hello!

Hello! I’m a bridal boudoir photographer. I’m not a psychologist. I’m not a relationship expert.

But do you know what? I’ve been through quite a lot in my life.

I’m 53. I’ve got two grown-up children. I was married for 20 years, and then I remarried at the age of 49.

Spending my career in the studio photographing brides and helping women feel more body confident as they create the wedding gift that only they can give has taught me a lot. Not just through my own life lessons, but through listening to brides talk about their relationship with their body, how they may or may not truly feel seen by their partner, and how they can improve that.

Feeling seen is one of the most important things in any relationship.

So my one nugget of advice today is this: the person who’s about to marry you should help you feel seen by telling you every day the little things they notice about you.

Perhaps it’s the way your nose crinkles when you smile. Perhaps it’s the way the light catches your hair.

Make sure you feel seen by your partner, and make sure you see yourself through the lens of love, because it’s so important. It has a huge impact on the relationship you have with yourself, with your partner, and with the wider world.
