I was very nervous before my boudoir shoot.
I was very nervous before my boudoir shoot.
I had done one before, back in my late 20s, back then I used to focus on every mark and perceived defect of my body, constantly putting myself down.
After my first FYEO boudoir shoot in 2013 something shifted, I felt amazing seeing the photos of me, especially knowing they were taken with no touch-ups.
Coming back now at 40, I was even more apprehensive.
I’m older, things have changed, and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. But when Alex showed me the photos, unedited, at a moment when I actually thought they had been edited, I couldn’t believe it.
The woman who avoids mirrors because of her imperfections was captured in a completely different way.
I remember thinking, who is that woman? She looks beautiful.
And that woman was me. 🥰🥰

We created a series of feminine portraits using blue silk chiffon, backlighting, and wind.
Fabric tied at the ankles, legs lifted, toes pointed, arms overhead. Simple direction. Strong shapes.
The movement did the rest 💙💨
We checked a few frames on the back of the camera and they already look incredible.
I can’t wait to share the final edits with her.
This client first photographed with me 10 years ago.
Back then it was a sporty, sculptural shoot with weights and strong silhouettes. This time it was softer, flowing, and confident.
Same woman. Different energy.
After the shoot she said:
