She was speaking so honestly about how she feels about her body, and as she talked about her decision not to tan for her shoot… it felt like a mirror was being held up in front of me.
I found myself thinking, “Yes… why do we feel like we have to have a tan?”
She said, “This is me. This is my body. I’m pale. I’m naturally really, really fair — and that’s okay.”
And something just shifted in me.
I had planned to create a video today about which fake tan to use for your photoshoot… but after that moment, I realised that’s not what I want to share with you.
What I do want to tell you is this:
Your skin colour is perfect exactly as it is.You are lovely exactly as you are.Every tone deserves to be celebrated. 🤍
I’m naturally very pale-skinned, and for most of my life I wished I were darker. But today reminded me how powerful it is to finally accept yourself as you are.
In the studio, the lighting I use? It doesn’t depend on your skin tone. Whether I’m using soft light, backlight to create that beautiful halo glow, or silhouettes… you shine regardless.
And watching her see herself — truly see herself — was magic. She chose her favourite images, and her excitement about creating her wedding gift was everything.
I may have guided her through the experience… but she guided me too.
I’m Alexandra, boudoir bride photography expert, and I’m here to help you create the wedding gift only you can give — while growing your body confidence along the way 💫
Comment ‘BRIDE’ and let’s start planning your shoot.
