Are you having a January wobble?

Are you having a January wobble? Because… me too.

I’ve been feeling low. Tearful. Hopeless. Depressed. Heavy.

And only now am I starting to come out of it.

It’s taken me far too long to connect the dots:
Low energy = low mood = more self-criticism.

I’m 52 and it feels like I’ve only just waking up to this.

Thankfully, I have a strong mind and I can pull myself out of it, but what I’ve finally realised is that it takes action, not just awareness.

After my wobble, I’ve decided to make changes to my lifestyle. I know I feel better when I feel physically strong, so I’ve committed to improving my fitness. Not for punishment. Not for shrinking. But for strength. For energy. For mood. For me.

And I’m excited, because I trust myself to do it.

Here’s the thing though. New Year resolutions don’t magically kick in overnight. Real change takes time.
But we can decide in a second to take charge of our mind.

So here’s my new rule:
For every self-critical thought, I must say one kind thing about myself.

Sounds simple. But wow, it’s revealing how harsh we can be to ourselves, isn’t it?

The crazy part? The very thing I’m proud to help women with, body confidence, is something I still struggle with too. Not all the time, but especially in January. I can look at my body and find fault in every pore.

And maybe that’s why I’m so passionate about helping women with their body image. Because I know how it feels. I yo-yo. I wobble. I doubt.

But the answer is always the same.
Take action. Step up. Step out. Don’t let yourself be sealed inside a cloud of doom. Life is too short.

Be loved. Feel loved. Love yourself, inside and out.

Seeing yourself differently starts and ends with the mind.
Let’s choose to see ourselves with love.
