✨ Body shame is still deeply ingrained.
Even today, so many of us struggle with how we see ourselves.

✨ We don’t see ourselves as whole.
Instead, we break ourselves down into parts—criticising, analysing, and judging every detail.

✨ Outdated self-images hold us back.
Many women battle with distorted or outdated views of themselves that no longer reflect reality.

✨ Partners’ words cut deep.
The biggest contributor to self-loathing? Hurtful comments or betrayal from a partner. The second? Constant comparison.

✨ We’re unaware of what’s “normal.”
Most of us don’t realize how normal and beautiful things like scars, stretch marks, or skin texture are. We compare ourselves to unrealistic ideals instead of embracing our unique selves.

✨ Healing is possible.
No matter your age or where you are on your journey, you can change how you feel about your body, see yourself in a more positive light, and grow in confidence. I help women with this everyday in my studio by taking them on a physical journey through a collection of ‘power poses’ and photographing them in beautiful lighting.

🔙 Throwback to when Reuters News filmed a feature at our studio…
Brides were (and still are!) booking in to be photographed completely nude — wearing nothing but their wedding veil — creating unforgettable, intimate gifts for their partners.

What a whirlwind that time was! Looking back now, I realise just how exciting (and brave!) it was to have such incredible press attention.

TV & radio crews regularly visited the studio, fascinated by why women were choosing these shoots — and even more so by the empowerment it sparked.

The press were genuinely surprised by how many women were eager to see themselves captured professionally — without filters, without shame.
They came expecting scandal.
They left talking about self-love.

I truly believe it was revolutionary:
Women saying, “I want to love my body exactly as it is.”

I’m Alex, and I’ve been a boudoir photographer in the UK for 23 years. My company, For Your Eyes Only Portraits, pioneered boudoir photography back in 2002, and since then, we’ve photographed over 20,000 women.

Boudoir is a French word that originally meant a lady’s bedroom. But today, boudoir photography is so much more—it’s a movement.

For centuries, women were photographed through the male gaze, often portrayed as vulnerable, with images created for men. But modern boudoir photography is different—it’s for women, or anyone who identifies as female. It’s personal, powerful, and transformative.
